My Story
Hi there! I'm the creative spirit behind Quirky Pickle Studio, where retro vibes meet modern design. Born in the groovy 1970s and raised among free-spirited hippies, flower power, and Saturday morning cartoons, I developed an early appreciation for bold colors, playful patterns, and the kind of authentic joy that defined that era.
My design aesthetic is heavily influenced by the comic books I treasured, the psychedelic art that surrounded me, and those unforgettable vintage patterns that covered everything from wallpaper to bell-bottoms. This nostalgic foundation now infuses my work with a distinctive blend of throwback charm and contemporary appeal.
While I've worn many professional hats over the years (including running a construction company for 25+ years!), my heart has always been in creating art that makes people smile. You'll find my retro-inspired surface pattern designs on Spoonflower, where I channel that groovy 70s spirit into modern, playful prints. My web development work, like CollectionDevil.com, shows how I blend that vintage vibe with current technology.
What makes Quirky Pickle Studio different? It's the authentic combination of old-school cool and modern methodology. Every pattern, illustration, and design carries a hint of that carefree, colorful era that shaped my creative vision, while meeting today's professional standards and technical requirements.
When I'm not crafting new designs or teaching others about web development, you might find me serving on the Charleston County School of the Arts PTSA board or working toward my degree at the College of Charleston (graduating 2025). Yes, even after all these years, I'm still learning and growing - just like those resilient flowers that decorated my childhood!
